Impressions of Venice

This was Venice, the flattering and suspect beauty—this city, half fairy tale and half tourist trap, in whose insalubrious air the arts once rankly and voluptuously blossomed, where composers have been inspired to lulling tones of somniferous eroticism.*

Venice is a most amazing city and one that is a definite must see. Unfortunately it is extremely commercialized city and I have no plans to return there. I was also not impressed with the Basilica of San Marco. The religious authorities wanted $2 just to see the altar. This kind of thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. What makes Venice Venice, of course, are the canals. What I have to say about Venice can best be said through the photos that I took.
